My Sign Board is Up!

Finally, my school's signboard is up! After three long years going through the red tape, I've finally received the approval from the Welfare Ministry. This means that TASKA LITTLE BEANS MONTESSORI is now a registered childcare provider.

My 3 Boys

Just a short post to share a picture of my 3 sons - Javen, Justin & Joshua.

Teaching and learning from young children

I created this blog as an avenue for me to share all the happenings at Little Beans. Working with young children from ages 3 to 6 has given me a lot of opportunity to learn along with them as well as the see the world from a child's perspective.

Many things that adults take for granted are special in the eyes of a child. Take for example, the humble and small spider. Children are often excited when they see a spider, but how often have we really sat down to marvel this little creature? When I started teaching the children about spiders, I learnt that they are from the arachnid group (not insects), they have two body parts, they have 8 legs, etc... In other words, while learning and looking up information to share with the children, I find myself more enriched with the additional knowledge!

Besides trying to be a good teacher, I also strive to be a better mother - I'm a mother of three boys aged 12, 8 and 5. Believe me ... it is very challenging and can be chaotic at home. Each child has a different temperament and it takes lots of patience and love to cater to each one. While trying to be fair and equal to all three, I find this difficult due to their differences. On top of that, I must not forget my dear husband and my parents who are always around to lend a helping hand. .

Lastly, I am doing my Masters in Education from University Of Southern Queensland, Australia. I have 6 semesters more to go ... which works out to approximately one and half years. Why do I do it? Because I believe that it is important to keep on learning and to keep on improving. So far, the courses in the last two semesters have given me many new insights and perspective in the Early Childhood Education, which in turn helps me in my work as well as family life.

Guess everything links up and I will try to document the daily happenings and express my feelings through this blog. Feel free to express your views as well.
